Has anyone tried this:
http://www.richersounds.com/product/...can-freevew-hd

It seems surprisingly cheap. I am confused by the description though,
which states that to take advantage of the HD tuner you need to
connect via the HDMI socket. I am not sure whether this means SCART
outputs HD channels in SD or not at all.

Thanks for any observations.

Scott

Does an HD channel ever give an SD output? Not with my tuner (A different
kind from this one). I think it means the SCART is for SD channels and the
HDMI, of course, is for HD.

I meant to say the HDMI is for SD and HD channels - sorry.

What does a Blu-Ray player provide on its SCART output?

To get the SD equivalent of the HD channels, choose another channel :-). I
suspect you might be able to "downgrade" a blue ray player to SD but why
would someone add the ability to downgrade HD channels where the broadcaster
has already done this for them?

To deal with the possibility of HD only channels appearing in future?

Quite a few reports of poor low signal performance on reviews and avi
forums. Also iplayer interface proprietary, bbc only and described as
klunky. I'd hold out for something better.

Thanks for all assistance. It does have some unconvincing reviews. I
will hold off meantime. The Thomson box seems to be mostly working at
present.
