My brother hasn't a phone, never mind a TV or anything starting with
"i". He has retired.

I have phones, MP3 players, TV, PVR and lots of computers. I'd never
buy an iAnything tho'.

Doesn't have a PVR!?
Burn the witch, burn them now!

I'm not, but I have done so anyway.

Luddites are fine, it's Luddites without PVRs that have to be burnt.

There are plenty in this village!

Returning to the original subject, after lunch yesterday, the Philips
STB that feeds the VCR had rescanned itself, and told me that fact; The
Toshiba TV needed rescanning, and left out Dave, at Ch. 12, but an
evening rescan found it; the Samsung TV has not been rescanned, and is
still happily showing Yesterday on 12. It is probably still showing
Dave on 19.
Why bother rescanning, then?

Just did that, but don't understand the jargon of what it showed - apart
from noting that FTTC is a cross, not a tick.

You need to move to a 'not as nice as you're in now' area I suspect :-(

I (selfishly) have no sympathy with people living in remote areas who
complain about slow internet speeds /high cost of petrol /long
distance to nearest hospital.
Their simple alternative is to move to a surburban area and complain
about pollution /crime /lack of parking.
As Michael Miles used to say "Will you take the money, or open the
box?"
gosh that ages me

Or, as Hughie Green would say - "You mean that most sincerely, you really
do!"

My son lives in a city he complains about low internet speeds /high
cost of petrol. In particular he is complaining about Talk Talk
degrading even more the poor performance of Talk Talk broadband.

One of those problems can resolved.

your kids get a poor deal, and crowded pavements, and nightmarish
pushing and shoving on public transport, and graffiti, and people not

No PVR = No crystal ball. But there are these strange goings-on
whenever the moon is full.......

If you look at your television aerial on the night of a full moon and
the elements of the aerial cross the moon it means that your EPG will
magically populate for the next 28 days without errors.

If however you look at your television aerial on the night of a waxing
crescent and the elements of the aerial cross the moon it means that
your EPG will be totally bolloxed for 28 days and all the female
newsreaders will have the blob on all at once and will deliberately make
the news sound depressing.

Very true.
Also many who move to the country start moaning about farmyard smells,
cocks crowing, church bells, mud on roads...
