This phrase appears in adverts for many TV's. Does the phrase mean that
when HD comes to an area that the TV will receive it via their suitable
aerial.
Friends bought this bought this one from House of Fraser.

The HD channel numbers were evidently not found. When they go to BBC1 or
BBC2 a reference to DVB T CH 52 comes up on each. ITV1, C4, C5 and ITV2
all refer to CH 49.

To receive the Freeview HD channels, the TV requires a DVB-T2 tuner. This
model only seems to have a DVB-T tuner, so it cannot receive HD broadcasts I'm
afraid.

The screen is full HD resolution, but that's not the same as being able to
(directly) receive HD broadcasts. It will need some form of HD set top box for
that, connected via an HDMI lead.

No. It needs to say FreeView HD.

They will probably just accept the set as it is. However I'm sure that
many who buy sets are misled by the wording.

No. It needs to say FreeView HD.

Seems that suppliers still have a lot of older sets to dispose of.

Given that I can't imagine watching TV anymore without a PVR, the lack of a
inbuilt HD tuner certainly wouldn't put me off. That said, to future
proof, (for a whole at least), one should really think about 3D.

I wouldn't accept it. I think it's ridiculous that new models are still
being introduced without HD tuners.

Calling a TV set (you know, one of those things you plug a TV aerial
into, and get sound and pictures on it) an HD TV set when it can't
display an HD TV picture, is telling a 100% lie. It was a lie when they
started doing it, and it's still a lie today. I don't care if it's
'standard nomenclature' (or whatever), it's still a lie.

The term that you should look for is "HD TV". There are four official
labels but "Full HD" isn't one of them -- that's an unofficial (and yes
it's very misleading) label used by some TV manufacturers. See he

But it can display an HD TV picture! It's not a lie, just confusing.
