It isn't just Russ Andrews himself though. I always thought Haymarket Publications - the publishers of "What Hi-Fi" were a fairly reputable outfit as far as magazine publishers go anyway. They still publish "The Gramophone" which used to be, at least, the most prestigious audio magazine. Despite what the experts had to say in the Register article it seems "What H-Fi" are quite happy to generate their own particular brand of bull**** as well. This is for an £112, 4 way trailing socket. quote On the plus side, the bigger side in this case, the Powerlink delivers greater spaciousness and detail to our reference stereo set-up. We wouldn't characterise our test Naim/Bryston/ATC system's sound as particularly coarse ordinarily, but the Russ Andrews smoothed any rough edges, opened up the sound agreeably and liberated the finest points of Mogwai's May Nothing But Happiness Come Through Your Door with casual efficiency. Civilising unruly sound The downside of this additional insight is an unwelcome gentility. The song loses some urgency, lacking the drive and attack evident without the Powerlink in place, replacing it in part with a stateliness of which we can't wholly approve. http://www.whathifi.com/review/russ-andrews-powerlink /quote All this bleeding edge technology from a green painted unit on an industrial estate in Cumbria. michael adams .... |

I would not want to buy a lead that made the DIGITAL signal sound warm. It would have to be defective to do that. |

Andy I was talking to someone last week who was telling me how much better his music sounded with his "quite expensive" mains cable. My obvious amusement only elicited a fervent "no honest, it really does make a lot of difference". This same person insisted that I couldn't possibly be correct when I say I can download from the net at 1.6MB, just not possible. -- Ian |

Looked expensive, cost less than £10! If you look through on-line suppliers such as CPC, Rapid Electronics, Studiospares etc, you can get all the bits for designer leads quite cheap. |

It's wot matters you know I think that the usp of the Russ Andrews Superkord is that the number of conductors, coupled with the SawyerDiscs, also means that the cable has the best interference-rejecting properties of any of their cables, bringing significant upgrades to CD players, DVD players, tuners, turntables and preamps too. IMHO, well worth the modest outlay of £1323 for a two metre cable. -- JohnT |
