Haven't watched this before but noticed that the French Open was being
broadcast in what seemed to be generous coverage. What disgraceful
quality! Dreadfully low resolution, with blocking and pixilation on
every shot, even on slow movement. Almost impossible to follow the ball.
I realised that I was getting a bad migraine just trying to follow play,
so gave up after 30 minutes.

What is the bit rate - anybody know?

Why did they have tennis on there and on itv 1 when they could have had the
river stuff on one of them on Sunday?

They don't call it Freeze view for nothing I'm told.

No, Freeview is fine normally. I even prefer it for good=quality radio.

At the moment, 1pm, the picture on ITV4 on both Freeview and Freesat is
diabolical.

The aerial shots are so blocky, they could be trying to hide the
identities of the tennis players.

There have been times when the picture on ITV4 from Paris has been
very good but there is no particular pattern except that after 6pm
when Al-Jazerra shares the multiplex the picture goes even further
down the pan.

Maybe it was just the first Sunday that had outstanding picture
quality but it may have even been the first couple of days. One thing
for sure its now not much better than streaming off the net.

Stills are acceptable quality though...

I dread to think what will happen when BBC 302 comes onboard the Beeb
mux for the olympics

I watching again now and it's actually pretty good. Go figure!
