No, it proves the point that in general chimney lashing wire fixings are better than wallbolts, but that if wallbolts are to be used the quality of the masonry should be considered very carefully. Bill It looks like lime mortar to me. Great in compression and resistant to earthquakes (personal experience) but no shear or tensile strength. Pete |
