In Memoriam

So, farewell then
Hannington analogue!

Soon time the Great Healer
Will let us forget

Your many dreadful
Technical
Imperfections

And your tendency
To broadcast messages
Intended for Rowridge viewers

And your occasional
Attempts to rebroadcast
French television

And your grievous
**** up
At DSO Stage One

And your
Guildford Notch.

Yes we might forget
(Although I doubt it
And Keith says he won’t

Ever)
But In any case
We will not forgive.

Nice piece Bill !

If anyone's remotely interested:-

BBC 1 went 00:03:00

PSB A went 00:07:00

ITV went 00:08:40

C4 went 00:12:00

C5 went 00:14:25

Mux 2 went 00:27:45

Mux A went 00:28:20

Mux B went 00:30:15

Mux C went 00:31:30

Mux D went 00:32:40

Went to bed at 00:45, and woke up again at 05:00am

New PSBs and PSB A were back up, COMs on new allocations were active too,
though still reduced in power until that pesky Guildford notch can finally
removed in April.

However, for many years when ITV regions really did have different
programming, it was a great thing to have the choice of this against the
london crap we got fed.
Now all get the same crap so there is hardly any point in bothering with DX
type aerials.

And best thing to do is replace them with a motorised satellite dish.

Care to give a few examples of where TVS or Southern provided better
programmes than 'london crap'? I had the choice of CP and Hannington ITV
for many years - the only reason being the late night films were usually
different.
Of course if you're talking about local news etc fair enough. But then
why would you want to watch regional stuff from outside your area anyway?

I used to live in Canterbury - on the top of the hill at the north-east.

Our Dover-facing aerial was able to pick up ITV Anglia, and my parents were
Cell Block H addicts at the time. Anglia showed it, TVS/Meridian rarely did.

Because sometimes one is interested in events taking place in neighboring
regions eg William Wright only yesterday expressed his interest in viewing
Look North West for details on a certain trial taking place in the City of Liverpool,
once frequently referred to as the "second city of the empire".

Right. I was hoping for the usual wildlife, education or documentary most
claim to watch exclusively. [Thinks.] Cell Block H just about did fit most
of those.

Then he needs to get a satellite receiver. All the regions are viewable
then. Although you'd need a pretty sophisticated recording system to be
able to watch them all.
