DSO all over again ?

Not content with the 800 MHz band being frittered away from broadcast TV use,
there could be more to vanish:-

I'd heard that too. Didn't I mention here a while ago that the mobile
radio people were eyeing up more spectrum. Not sure I can believe 2015
though - 2022 perhaps...

Oh and next time please can we have more than a 1 MHz guard band between
the band edges, if there are going to be high-power base stations close
to TV aerials?

The band has been frittered away by broadcasting absolute tripe.

Do we have a list of the people who signed this and do we know if their
governments actually know and agree?
Seems to me that as long as the sun behaves itself, then in the future, the
satellite is the way to go.

Agree with you Brian, Satellite is the way to go. I did a quick fag
packet calculation on the amount of power required for the Terrestrial
network and it was a very large number indeed, even taking antenna gain
into consideration.

on The Offal Channel?

Coming up next, how to prepare "les rognons aux moutarde Dijon",
followed by an in depth report on "putting liver back on the school meals menu."

I wonder if it's occurred to the greenys that TV transmission uses
electricity. Furthermore, I wonder if they realise that most of the
energy causes minute currents of electricity to flow in the leaves of
trees and the walls of buildings, warming them a bit and thus
contributing to global warming. You might poo-poo this idea and say that
the effect is tiny, but where else do those watts go?

"Complex interacting systems", or somesuch phrase.

Warming the plants probably assists the growth of the plants and
increases their uptake of carbon dioxide.

Indeed so for most plants.

Incidentally global warming has been found to be of advantage to
the stickleback tapeworm, Schistocephalus solidus.

That transmitted from even a large communication satellite isn't going
to increase global warming, even if the solar panels are the area of a
couple of tennis courts.

Why not?
