Buy an FTA receiver, because they never show the red button,
but you can get red button content by changing channels to
STREAM 0 ... STREAM 7.

On Freeview press green to get rid of it
On Sky freesat press back (likely the same for ordinary Freesat)
On cable press blue

Thanks :o)

It's especially annoying if I'm making a recording for somebody.

I'd swear the thing auto-hides after 30 seconds on my BBC Freesat
channels. I have my box connected to the net, so often (not always) it
says "BBC iPlayer" instead of "Press Red" next to the red blob.

Maybe I'm pressing green without thinking! I think it depends on the
programme though.

Cheers,
David.

I've just tried a Humax Freesat box on various BBC channels: 1, 2, One
HD, HD, BBC News. In all cases "Press Red" is displayed on screen for 30
seconds. Pressing either Green or Back will get rid of it immediately.

No, you are correct, it does go away, unlike Freeview, which requires
the green button to remove it.

Of course, if you only ever watch Freeview as programmes you have selected
to record on your PVR, you never see a red button at all.

Mine used to go off after a very short while but now I'm pressing green as
advised here.
I know it is Freesat but seems to have occurred at about this terrestrial
switchover at Emley Moor.

David

You may be able to switch it off permanently if you go into settings,
Topfield will do this.
