Moral of the story, More channels does not mean more to watch, it means that you thin down the content so much its more like water than emulsion paint, which of course is what you watch drying if you want real entertainment these days. Still a bugger though when there are only three programmes worth watching one evening and they're all at the same time. You have to watch one live and catch all the sodding adverts. |

I can beat that by *lots* MythTV with dual DVB-T tuners and dual DVB-S2 tuners, each tuner configured to record 4 simultaneous programmes per mux/transponder. It could probably cope with more simultaneous recordings if I tried, storage is on 8x500GB SATA disks. I've always wanted to have a go at MythTv, is there a dummies guide anywhere? I've had a go before but my eyes glazed over trying to set it up, it's hard to unlearn Windows. |

G It's not until you've become used to recording all your TV that you realise what a total pain Programme Planners are, running programmes on different channels "in competition" to prevent you watching them both/all, overrunning, shouting over end credits, endless trailers, not to mention DOGs. All except the DOGs can be worked around, as can pee/coffee breaks, answering phone calls etc. Makes the process an order of magnitude more civilised but unfortunately cant improve the programme content or production quality. |
