Japanese 'NHKWORLD' HD channel 209 on Freesat
 

A recent retune has added an unexpected new HD channel: NHKWORLD - as Channel
209 - which appears to be (after a few quick glimpses) a Japanese version of a
cross between BBC World News and CNN News.

Is it some kind of experimental channel?

It's old news to be honest. Content: ok; picture quality: first class.

On HD STBs it appears at 209 instead of the SD version of NHKWORLD which
appears on SD STBs.

their ' imagine nation ' show is interesting if you like anime and video
games - even if the presenters talk in freaky ( not japanese or english
) accents.

Correct. The HD version of NHKWORLD was not put into the EPG until after
CH4 HD arrived. Before that Ch 209 was NHKWORLD SD only.

Freeview from Tacolneston? I recently did a re-scan, and it didn't show
up.
