What do you mean by 'gets' ? NHK World has been on Freesat Ch209 for
quite a time.

Nothing's impossible, but it's highly unlikely IMHO Sky News will ever
appear on Freesat's EPG, it's no great loss, is it ?

Had read NHK was coming next week just spotted 209 today, usually just go
for 200 BBC News.
I like Sky News on Freeview, as good to get a balance with BBC News hope
that it will get onto Freesat EPG.
I suppose some day we will get the usual mergers and takeovers that happen.

What have distributing TV to homes, Virgin, Freeview, Freesat and Sky.
(There is BT in the background I not know what they offer.)
I suppose Freesat is the smallest and if anything does happen they would be
the one to Merge/takeover. History often repeats.

David

209 carries NHK World in standard definition. It's NHK World HD (high
definition) that we are waiting for. It's already being transmitted FTA
but is not yet available via Freesat.

NHK World has been on 209 for a long time, NHK World HD will be added to
the EPG in May. It is very unlikely that Sky News will ever appear on
the Freesat EPG.

It is a real shame Sky News not on the EPG, I have to use "Other Satellite"
or Freeview.
Do we know if it is Freesat that will not have them or Sky News that will
not allow it?

Your question is not really valid, since you are forgetting that in
order to be added to the Freesat EPG service (which is what Freesat
basically is all about), one has to pay a subscription fee to the
Freesat consortium.

So your question should really be, is B$KyB not willing to pay money
to their major competitor to put one of its stations on their system?

I think the answer to that question is an obvious "no".

If Sky don't want Freesat viewers to watch Sky News, why *do* they
transmit it FTA, why not make it FTV?

It is not that they do now want Freest viewers (or FTA receiver owners
even) to watch $ky News, it is that they do not want to pay money to
their major competitor to have their station on the Freesat EPG.

Unlike the BBC who are prepared to pay millions from the TV receiving
licence fund to their number one enemy (and even more in the past when
they were paying for their encryption services as well).

Now there is an idea. Instead of making savings by cutting programs
and dismantling stations, why not stop paying B$kyB just to be on
their EPG? After all most B$kyB customers complain that they never
watch BBC as an argument as to why they should not be required to
pay for a broadcast receiving licence.
