... If you farted very loudly in church you'd be almost perfect. BTW, please don't quote him as it makes it unpleasant for those of us who've consigned him to eternal damnation in our kill files. And another clueless butthead crawls out of the gutter to insult its superiors. You gnomes are a bit slow to initiate your usual "piling on with unrelated personal abuse for no good reason" routine in this thread - there's usually about a dozen of you jumping on the bandwagon by now. jamie. -- |

I realise that deinterlacing is inherently lossy, because the software has to rely on guesswork to try and recreate information which is not present in the source signal. Guesswork? You're obviously no engineer! I don't think you'd recognise a vertical-temporal filter if one hit you in the face, but for your elucidation here's the patent which explains how it works: http://neuron2.net/misc/USP4789893.pdf As for your other points, they just repeat the same old misconceptions. I'm not going to bother to counter them again, as it achieves nothing. Richard. http://www.rtrussell.co.uk/ |

I've just had another look and it's in the top right again. Puzzling. Let's hope they are experimenting and will settle on the BOTTOM RIGHT as a location. This is used by the USA broadcasters and is far less intrusive. It's rarely on people's faces, for a start! It can happen though. I've watched episodes of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on CNBC that have had two MSNBC DOGs on screen, one top-left-ish and the other top-right-ish. I say "-ish" because they are not close to the corners and often obscure the faces of Leno and the guest he is interviewing. -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |

It seems that recently the left DOG has been moved to the bottom so that guests' faces are no longer obscured. -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |

Seizing on my justifiable use of a particular word and using it as a brittle stick to slap me with is an old and devalued ploy. For what it's worth, I've already read papers on the 3-field deinterlace method used in broadcast ARCs. We both know deinterlacing is a lossy process, and you've already admitted this, so the discussion is moot. As for your other points, they just repeat the same old misconceptions. I'm not going to bother to counter them again, as it achieves nothing. That's a cop-out if ever I saw one. Kudos for evading most of the issues I raised anyway, especially that of low BBC HD bitrates which countless numbers of viewers have complained about. jamie. -- |

Hint, try googling before making a tit of yourself. ooh look, an unsubstantiated random comment. Evidence? (bet you'll not have any) An idiot might think you knew more than me after reading that. Are you saying that 'an idiot' is one step up from where you are now then? LOL. It's not *that* difficult to see why your fan base might be diminishing. What randomness are you prattling on about now, gnome boy. Doh..you've snipped out your own answer to that. Not to worry, like quite a few here, I've set my sights low. Next... -- Z |
