Yes now after the latest update it all works with my 500gb HDD formatted in
situ.

Did you go to "Settings", "System", "Storage", "Data Storage", and select
your HDD?

It will need to be formatted, which means you should be prepared to use it
exclusively with your PVR.

It can probably be used by your PC with a lot of faffing around.
