When was he highly critical of Cameron and Osborne?

I've been reading PE for years. That has often criticised them both since
they became leaders of the tories. Go and look at the recent (or earlier)
copies and *read* them if you don't believe me. That has for some time been
pointing out the way Snooty and his Pals have behaved. In particular
exposing:

A) where they have reversed what they said they'd do before the came to
power.

B) how their policies benefit those who have given them dosh, etc.

if you want an evidence-based debate on this, you and Bill could try
posting on a *political* group. Not trying to hide away in OT threads here.
Also read PE. Find a local library and read though the last few years of
issues. Note how they also expose Tory councils, *and* LibDem ones, *and*
Labour ones when they get up to no good.

Jim

I refer you back to my original post, did you watch the show evolve

have seen that even the most ''right on'' leftie comedians found it
increasingly difficult to try and create any kind of humour out of
attempting to defend the indefensible..

And the point of a *comedy* *satire* programme is to go for *those in

That's probably as close as this tedious thread gets to being relevant to

It is supposed to be a comedy programme, not a party political broadcast.
There are/were plenty of things done by that made me smile.
Constantly changing policies to match what was perceived as what was
wanted by
the public deserved at least a comment.

Yes, but they earn their bread bread and butter by making people laugh and
to that end there was without doubt shed loads more of humorous mileage to
be wrung out of the demise of Gordon and Nulabour, than would have been
achieved by trying to extract the **** out of Cameron and Osborne, it's
wot's known in comedic circles as 'milking the audience'..

Last week I went on a break to an area that has already switched off
the analogue transmissions. Analogue reception was satisfactory
before switch-over. The things we notice now:

- The sound often does not sync with the picture.

Sound is fine and 48kPCM - comparable to Nicam and FM.

- regular loss of the sound and picture for several seconds.

Poor aerial probably

- Set top box "freezes" every now and again and has to be unplugged.

Ditto or its a rubbish box.

- Most of the extra channels have nothing I would want to watch
anyway.

Possibly

- The only new channel I watched is "Dave" and it has too many
adverts, DOGs and other irritations for me to watch if it wasn't
pouring with rain.

Picture quality is better than analog - widescreen and RGB.
The picture quality is slightly superior on satellite and Freesat HD is very
good.

- Digital teletext seems as slow as the analogue variety.

It is faster than teletext or fast text, but not as fast as an analog set
with memory which has had time to load up all the pages...

And this is progress.....

Erm. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think 'Freeview' sound is transmitted as
PCM. It is based on 48k sample-rate, though.

Yes. They perform a function similar to that of a court jester in times

No, satire can be used on any public figure, whether in power or not.
Think of Spitting Image.

I buy a PE occasionally, but I find it a bit self-absorbed sometimes.
It is, as they say, a bit specialised for the general reader. I've
never felt that the mag had any particular political leaning.

I've got some of those flexible gramophone records that they used to
put on the cover in the 1960s.
