Lichfield Freeview HD
As I live close to Lichfield, and my aerial is pointing at Sutton
Coldfield for Freeview channels, would it be pointless to buy a Freeview HD receiver? I understand that Freeview HD is currently being broadcast from Lichfield rather than S.Coldfield, though I've also read that the Lichfield transmitter will be decommissioned in 2013, so presumably the HD channels will migrate to S.Coldfield at some point. Lichfield is 20-30 degrees away from S.Coldfield from where I live, so it's close but no cigar. Can any of you experts in this NG clarify this for me? kj |

You may need to turn your aerial a little in the direction of Lichfield. Use your postcode and the trade view on www.digitaluk.co.uk to check the reception (i think i says SC, but the HD signal is from Lichfield) Lars :) |

The problem is it's in a different direction to Sutton Coldfield. Yes I gathered that (after all it was central to your question), and I took it into account when offering my opinion. I considered the directional characteristics of the type of aerial you are likely to be using, the liklihood of multipath affecting the quality of the signal, the risk of the stronger signals from SC swamping the Lichfield system, and various other factors, before arriving at a conclusion.
