Sky Sports News RIP...
....on DTT from later on this year.
Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/10346894.stm Shame, I like this channel. It will be replaced by Sky 3 +1. Given that there is hardly ever anything to watch on Sky 3, I am not thrilled by the Plus-One service; a waste of bandwidth if you ask me. John |

Obviously the broadcaster gets extra advertising revenue, but do the programmes have to be paid for twice or is there a reduced rate for showing a programme on a +1 channel? -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |

For me, it's one of the first that I delete out of my channels list, I don't watch it when it is free, I certainly wouldn't pay tim |

Paint drying is better than sky sports of any flavour. Good riddance. Gary |

John This is just stage one of Sky's plan to turn all their freeview slots to pay channels. Stage 1 - replace anything people might watch with rubbish Stage 2 - replace the rubbish with pay channels and nobody will complain about what they have lost. Sky got the go-ahead for pay tv on terrestrial digital recently (called picnic). They have also just bought out Virgin's tv channels so what's the betting Sky3, Sky 3+1, Sky News, Virgin 1 all vanish to become part of their new pay tv system in the next few months. |

Is it possible to mix DVB-T2 transmissions with DVB-T on different multiplexes, or do they require an individual multiplex, i.e. the current HD one? |

Thanks, that's what I meant, which means that there will have to be a lot of consultation, agreement and jigging about of channels before any of the other broadcasters (such as Sky) can switch over to a terrestrial HD package. BTW what's your take on this? there's no mention a DVB-T2 in this advert, however when one reads it the implication is that it will receive the new terrestrial HD broadcasts, (which is surprising, as I would have thought that Novatech of all companies should know better) that is unless of course I've got it wrong, they quote "It is also ready for the new terrestrial HDTV." my own guess is that it is probably only suitable for somewhere like France which uses MPEG4 AVC/H.264 for HD on DVB-T. http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/TVTunerCards/PCTVSystems/23004.html | |

Huh? What do you mean? Your terminology is rather vague. Each multiplex is either DVB-T or DVB-T2. |
