It said HD, but it didn't look much different to SD to me.

The 'Info' on my set said it was 1080 (I did not notice if it was 'i'
or 'p'). That was STV HD on Freeview.

Mine is ITV HD on Freesat (Both Red Button and Channel 119). It didn't
look anything like 1080i to me. As I said, not much better than SD. In
fact I've seen SD picture on the BBC that have looked better.

I hear it looked pretty different at about four minutes in. Ads in
live sport again! Will ITV ever get it right?

Get it right for who? It's a business - not a free service. Which gets its
income from ads.

I realised it was 1080i when I looked again during the highlights.

Can you imagine many football fans buying whatever was being
advertised when the football was interrupted?

But you haven't seen the ITV SD version.

As with the last World Cup, the ITV SD broadcast matches are over
compressed and covered in artefacts. Last time it made most of the
matches they carried on DVB un-watchable, and 4 years doesn't seem to
have improved things.

It was not a deliberate ad, the SAT lost transmission.....a second before
England scored.

As for England's performance.............that aint NO World Cup winning
team. Poor, poor, poor.
