We were getting the BBC Oracle without problems til a few days ago, now
we can't get it at all.
The ITV Teletext service works ok.
If we watch via the dvd recorder we can still get BBC Text ok,
It's a newish Panasonic tv and a fairly old Pioneer dvd recorder
I have tried rescanning the channels but that didn't help.
The signal strength meter reads 10/10 signal strength/quality on all
channels.
Does anyone have any idea why wh can't get BBC text but can get ITV text
(which we don't want)?
I'd be grateful for any help.

thanks

Seems you're not alone with this problem, other Panny owners are having the
same trouble :-

I don't know about text, but my wife needs the subtitles on all TV
channels, and there seems to be a persistent problem with them on BBC1,
2 and News. Sometimes it's fine, but sometimes the subtitles are very
intermittent and/or gobbledegook - especially on 'live' programmes. The
same problem can be seen on five different TV 'receivers' - a Sony 23"
TV set, a Humax STB (used to drive a recorder), a different Humax STB,
an ancient Nokia STB and, finally, a WinTV TV card in this PC.

All of these receivers are fed from one aerial, but I can't really see
it being an aerial (or distribution) fault. All the digital MUXes look
flattish on a spectrum analyser, and the signal 'quality' (as indicated
on each receiver) looks good.

I am being pressed to investigating Freesat.

The text is working on my Techwood twin-tuner PVR but not on my Digifusion.

I only tried CH 1,2,3&4.

There's no text on BBC HD, to our annoyance.

ITV1 HD doesn't seem to have them bit BBC HD does.

I'll second that.

But the BBC HD channel (on 108) with my Bush HD sat box is behaving very
strangely when subtitles are selected. It confirms subtitling is on, then
after a few seconds the subtitles appear. But at the same time the sound is
switched off! Switching off subtitling removes the subtitles, but does not
restore the sound. I tried repeatedly pressing the Mute button, and
changing the volume, but those had no effect either. The only way to get
back the sound was to change to another channel and then back to BBC HD. If
subtitling was on when the channel was changed, when BBC HD was reselected
there was sound until the subtitling came on again, when the sound went off.

No problem with subtitles and sound on BBC2 SD (on 102).

Anyone else noticed this with their Bush HD box?

I'm told all relevant parties are well aware of the problem, and trying to get
it resolved ASAP.
