Comments welcome.

I like the one with 4 feeds paralleled off the loft aerial.

I was heartbroken to see an aerial I installed about 12 years ago for a friend, has suffered a similar bodged up fate by the new
owners of the house.

This has happened next door to my parents. Years ago, for the previous owners I installed a group B aerial with masthead amplifier
on a very short mast on a well spaced T&K (as it's very windy there) pointing straight down the valley to Abergavenny.

The newish owner has removed the masthead amplifier (I believe the PSU was taken when the old owners moved out) taped up the join,
directed the aerial at Pennorth (group A, stronger signal but local interference problems) and bashed another cable into the
connector which runs across the roof and into the kitchen through the extractor fan.

It irritates me every time I go there, but we don't know them well enough to mention it yet!

Someone I know was an early adopter of DAB and spent a lot on a tuner and roof
aerial, the first one in his street.

It's still unique today in the whole area, because it's the only one that is horizontally polarised!

In this manner?

Even stranger, one has appeared on a roof near us that is (a) HP and
(b) without any cable connected to it.

What kind of a rubbish system is being installed that can only cope
with nine channels? Why cannot the whole Freeview package be
available?

So you would leave him to rot and not to improve. Prison is
punishment, yes, but it should also be there to reform.

Otherwise prisoners would come out as bad or worse as when they went
in.

The punishment, surely, is the loss of freedom.

Sometimes it does sometimes it does not..

Usually worse, after all prisons are crime training academies..

Yes and the safety of the rest of the law abiding population:)..

Because to do so would mean re-engineering the distribution systems
for six, possibly widely-spaced, multiplexes, together with supplying
and installing a new Freeview box for each cell.

Fitting a relatively small head end and distributing in analogue is by
far the most economical way, as well as allowing some control over
what channels are available.

Sometimes you do -- ask the Guildford 4, the Renault 5, or the Birmingham 6.

And if you are falsely imprisoned, expect a bill for your food and lodging.

In reality this isn't the case. The systems are generally adequate to
carry analogue channels and digital multiplexes simultaneously. The
cost of adding off-air muxes is minimal.

That depends on what 12 men and women of the jury decide from
the evidence (true or false) that's presented to them.

Is there a need for these systems to continue to carry
analog channels?

The legacy of perhaps 700 analogue-only TV sets, and the need to
distribute in-house channels (satellite pay channels and bulletin
boards). At present it's rather expensive to generate one's own mux.
