Satellite TV question
My neighbors have two Dish Network dishes on the roof, about ten feet from each
other. And they each point in a different direction. What's up with that? Wouldn't they both be pointing to the same spot/satellite in the sky? Seems odd to me. One is pointing more or less SW and the other SE. |

Dish Network has satellites parked at several orbital locations and to receive all the programming many people require two dishes. I'm a Dish subscriber but am currently without HD programming because the satellites that carry that programming are hidden behind neighbor's trees. In some states you have a "right" to the sky. Have you explored that? |

A common setup is to have one dish with two LNBs to pick up satellites at 110 and 119 degrees west, and a second dish pointed at 61.5 degrees W--61.5 is just too far away from the others to use one dish. This setup has been necessary to get all the available channels, but newer installations use one dish to pick up 61.5/72.7/77. -- Intelligent Life Is All Around Us http://intelligentlife.info/ |

With Dish you need two dishes like you describe to be able to get hd. Chip -- -------------------- http://NewsReader.Com/ -------------------- Usenet Newsgroup Service $9.95/Month 30GB |

Satellite TV question
DISH has satellites at 129 degrees West, 119W, 110W, and 61.5W. The first
three are all receivable with ONE stationary dish. The one at 61.5W, however, is not receivable by the dish that receives the other three. So, if your local network affiliates are on the 61.5W satellite, you need a second dish to receive them. DISH also has many MPEG4 HDTV signals at 61.5W. To make the situation a little easier to manage, "Dish" is offering one unit
to pick up three eastern [or three western satellites]. I'm getting mine [for northern N.J.] in a few days. Eastern arc dish for 61.5, 72 and 77: Model 1000.4: http://www.amazon.com/Dish-Network-1.../dp/B001IQF6AO -- Most amazing crossword puzzle: http://barelybad.com/xwdthemes_110596.htm |
