Alternative software for Kworld USB Dual DBV-TV Stick?

I had a Kworld USB Dual DBV-TV Stick bought for me (not _my_ choice!)

My old Hauppauge WinTV USB PVR worked fine, but I had to feed it from a Sony
Freeview box which meant I had to pre select the channel on this first,
which was a PITA.

The new stick works OK, but the software is, IMHO, rubbishI.

I have tried both TVme _and_Hupermedia and neither functions well.

My question is:
Can I use other software, and if so which?

I still use the WunTV box, but only for FM radio, so I want to retain that,
and I _don't_ want Freeview radio at all.

BTW, I am visually impaired, so the TV and recording interface needs to be
functional rather than pretty.

Any ideas?

Rog

I'm probably missing something, but have you tried using it with Windows
Media Center? That's good in that it has a very clear user interface.

It's me that is (possibly) missing something...
I don't use Media Centre!.
I got pi$$ed off with the way it tried to take over and make *playlists* of
everything, so I haven't used it for years.

Can I scedule recordings with it?

Yes. I'm in the process of building up a Media PC myself, using Windows 7,
which will run Media Center. I'm not sure which version you are using, but
I recommend you take another look at it.

Yes, Media Center* and Media Player are completely different things. You'll
see both in your Start menu.

You can also try XBMC, VLC, Itunes, or any other video or audio playback
software you like. That's the great thing about it being a computer and not
somebody's proprietary system - you're not compelled to use the software that
comes with it, but can try lots until you find something you like.
