The end of S4C analogue
hi
For TV geeking purpose, I wondered if anyone within the Wenvoe TV coverage area might be nice enough to record and upload the final moments of S4C analogue on the night of 30th March? As this is a unique situation where an entire channel is closing down, I'm guessing that there might be some "fanfare" on the part of the contiunity staff (but probably not of course). I've located a web-controlled radio in Dorset - on the fringes of Wenvoe's coverage area - which is just about able to receive S4C's FM sound carrier on 685.25MHz, but a video would be nice too. thanks, jamie. |

No, S4C analogue is a bilingual channel with a mixture of Welsh S4C and English C4 content, whereas S4C Digital is welsh-only. The former is now only being broadcast to a tiny audience in the Cardiff area - until the last remaining Welsh analogue transmissions cease at the end of March. |

Maybe your "good friend" PeterT whose intellect you recently praised in this newsgroup would be able to help you out, as he I believe lives in this reception area. |

According to the Radio Times, the final S4C analogue programme will be 'Shameless' 23:00hrs 30th March to 00:00hrs. I think it's a timeshifted broadcast of the same programme that will be on C4 England an hour earlier. |

Weirdly, their own website shows partially-completed listings for the day after: http://www.s4c.co.uk/e_listings.shtm...1&service=s4ca It only lists programmes which were on weekly/daily scheduled runs however, and must presumably be auto-generated by software. |
The end of S4C analogue
Here are the 3 Wenvoe analogue closedowns from earlier tonight - the final
analogue TV transmissions remaining in Wales. There was actually some acknowledgement and fanfare(!) (except on ITV) BBC1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er4UyIqC2s4 ITV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDjzaqt44Mo S4C http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emm3fXAAMRo Many thanks to remlap from DigitalSpy for recording and uploading these. Apparently the transmission mast was also illuminated to mark the occasion. |
