I am not aware of these proponents being in any way influential in the UK,
and no doubt they have their own political agenda, but I thought some may be interested here.

I'd be in favour of greater efficiency for better programming but not
because of pressure from commercial organisations. The whole point of
the BBC is to maintain the standards of the commercial organisations
and offer people a real choice.

Done.

Hopefully expecting a few folks to be rightly fired when the results are
published.

To save th3 BBC one has two problems. OK save them from some cuts, but
then you have to save them from themselves!

Sorry, but I think the cuts are very sensible (provided new music
returns to Radio One).

They could have gone much further...

Why should we save an organisation that has an intrinsic left wing
liberal bias?

The BBC has an intrinsic liberal-humanist bias, but it is not left wing.

This is a distinction which you repeatedly seem unable to comprehend.

Same old song. No government is happy with the BBC, which is as it
should be.

Agreed, and neither should any opposition party be happy with
the BBC either.

In fact no politician should be happy with the BBC if the BBC
was doing its job in reporting the truth.
