replacement sat dish
Hi
I've just bought a sat dish to replace my corroded original ( sea air ! ). this may seem a odd question but my newly aquired dish, although elliptical like the original is vertically elliptical whereas the other is horizontally shaped, is this a problem ? |

You'll have to ask the satellite authorities to rotate the satellite antenna through 90 degrees, then you should be ok. Trouble is, about 50 million satellite subscribers will be tad ****ed off when their signal disappears. MR |

It reminds me of our local when a traveller staggers in at half eleven and asks the way to somewhere! The sensible answers to the question are (a) In theory yes (b) In practice no (c) Suck it and see. Bill |

"Brian Gaff" wrote in message om... Actually, I was told that as long as the curvature is correct to focus both polarities of transmission on the lnb it will be fine. Demonstrated by someone making a dish that looked like a ;larg piece of a jigsaw puzzle as a talking point. OK, I'll ask, if you can make them eliptical in either direction, why not just make them circular? Presumably making it eliptical must reduce the gain (if that is even the correct term) across the narrow portion of the elipse. Might allow it to tilt better though so are they perhaps not eliptical but in fact offset with less "above" the mount than below? Paul DS. |

The name of the pub was "The Travellers Rest". G.Harman |
