Well, unless your leads are several metres long, there really is no need for
anything but normal leads. After all, I very much doubt if the wiring
inside the tv and the pins of its connectors were purchased from a stockist
of military spec components.


I think far more important is making sure the cables are kepts away from the
mains ones as much as possible, and making sure they are firm when mated. If
anything changes with a gentle wiggle then its not going to last long.

They send AC mains through the wires? Appalling! Think of the radiation!
They should convert the power to smoothed DC (not more than 12V), pass it
through quarter inch, single core, low oxygen copper wire, then convert it
back to DC with an inverter, with the 50 Hz synchronised to the transmitter
in Anthorn.

Even better would be to solder in a permanent link between the equipment and
your TV.

Forgive the levity you have invoked here, but the regulars are
(rightly) somewhat cynical about the marketing tactics of many
equipment sellers. The salient ponts a
1. If you have the option with your equipment to use HDMI connections
instead of scart, do so.
2. If you do have to use scart, use ordinary common sense to avoid
flimsy-looking cables, but do not pay extra for gold plating.
