Anyone know if their in house TV carries freeview?
I've been to the Skeggy one that advertises freeview in their premium
accomodation, which I presume would be attached to the same TV system.

I'll have to resort to booze if all I have is 1-5 & the Butlins in
house channel, during my few breaks from Bob The Builder & Pingu.

Departing tomorrow BTW, pre DSO.

Do not know the up to date answer.
Been to both just a few years back, the standard accommodation had 14" 4x3
crt analogue TV sets.
The better apartments had w/s TV sets I assume they might have Freeview
built in.

Could you take your own decoder box? Just a thought.

When I was there (admittedly years ago) half the accommodation had C/D
aerials on Mendip, the other half group B's on Wenvoe.
Each block had it's own rx aerial. The block we stayed in had a Mendip
aerial, but a strong ghosty Wenvoe was available with re-tuning, so no
filters were evident.

A tip for you, drive - it'll be too windy to walk - into Minehead and
buy strong booze and a suitable sized bottle of water. When going to
the onsite (ahem) "club", fill the now empty water bottle with your
own booze and drink from that. The prices across the bar will make
your head reel, your knees buckle and force an involuntary "HOW MUCH?"
from your mouth. Dunno about the tv, our set wasn't working and we
left after enduring two days at the place.

You should maybe think about taking a fan heater as well judging by the
recent review on tripadvisor.co.uk http://tinyurl.com/ykvu5mt

I'm taking my laptop & USB DVB stick, which will be an improvement on
the 14" CRT, if they carry freeview that is.

I'm a seasoned pro at avoiding parting with my wedge at these places.
Little money changes hands when I'm there. The (ahem) clubs at Butlins
are on another level compared to any other holiday parks.

Agreed. I've stayed at Butlins twice at the instigation of others and took
drink, and when staying in standard accommodation, a fan heater and electric
kettle as the one in the accommodation was a kettle on an electric ring
which took ages and cost a fortune in electricity. I have to say, I'll never
go to Butlins again though, so hope you have a better experience. Their up
market accommodation was tolerable, but the noise from neighbours, scrummage
queuing and laughable dining facilities (evening meal 4.30 to 6.30pm!) were
not.

closed.

They don't still charge for electricity do they? Oh my god....... The only
time I ever stayed at a holiday (prison) camp was in Blackpool at Pontins
when a friend of mine was playing in a band there. Wouldn't catch me there
by choice ever!!!

When are you going? I believe DSO takes place in April for Mendip, which
I assume would be the main transmitter for Minehead.

Well I never got to find out, my freeview stick wouldn't work with
Windows 7, even after a session in McDonalds car park trying to get
drivers.
Getting sort of back on target, the TV system had all sorts on it. 1-5
looked like they were remodulated from a digital source. 1 & 3 were
also available in a very snowy version with subs (No remotes for the
tellys), as well as Cbeebies & the in house channel.

No they don't charge for leccy, car access to your room is terrible,
you have to cart your stuff from the car park on a trolley, but
otherwise OK, the nipper enjoyed himself which was all that mattered.

I'll probably give the Bognor one a go when the Sun £9.50 hols are
next on.

I tried that when I was staying away for a few weeks.

At one B&B they had screwed the TV on the wall (as is the norm now) and it
was wired into sockets hidden behind the TV with the shortest possible
leads.

It was absolutely impossible to add a STB to the system and connect it into
their TV.

Just wondering...why go on holiday and watch TV ?

Don't get me wrong, I always switch it on, check on the technicalities
of the distribution system, set up the settings properly if I can
remember how to get past the Hotel Lock on the particular model. Then
occasionally set up the channel names with something silly if I dont
like the place....and then switch it off and get on with the holiday.
