I haven't tested it yet - dunno what it does for auto SCART switching or equipment-equipment recording. It's about £20 worth tops, made by Philex electronics in 2005. I'd like to run outputs to 2 separate pieces of equipment. -- fred BBC3, ITV2/3/4, channels going to the DOGs |

Thought it would be, thanks for checking I suppose if I use RGB to the telly and disconnect pin 19 on that scart then I can still use the composite phono connection to feed the video. -- fred BBC3, ITV2/3/4, channels going to the DOGs |

Unfortunately that plan probably won't run. From my experience of driving RGB through the Scart socket, the television sets I found still needed the sync information supplied through pin 19. However with other doings, I've had two composite video monitors in parallel from one source (Original Xbox) without issues for a short time, but the purist overkill in me would either be looking for some way of daisy-chaining the video input circuits removing a termination 75ohm resistor from one of the devices, or building a small distribution amplifier. The following is a tear down of a commercial powered splitter which could be assembled cheaply. I'd dare say to case it inside the switch, but ye'd need to uprate the power supply to run it, and then there's Maplins returns department ... http://forum.tsebi.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23 Or, a better switch could be sought in the first place compatible with your aims?... Normally you should be able to do without these switch boxes and the like, and succesfully connect everything using the existing scart in/out interfaces present on most AV bits of kit. -- Adrian C |

I haven't tested it yet - dunno what it does for auto SCART switching or equipment-equipment recording. I've had a nearly identical unit for a few years. Branded as Hitachi model HIT001 it has bevelled edges to front panel and the input switching is on the left with av RCA inputs on the right, but doesn't look quite so plasticcy. Rear panel looks to be identical . £10 from a market stall, Argos return I believe, used to be £70'ish last time it was in their catalogue. Wide screen switching and so forth works fine as does recording and playback from a VCR connected to input 3. Had no problems with it. Plus the guy threw in a bagful of scart and av leads and a spare PSU. It's about £20 worth tops, made by Philex electronics in 2005. Pure 'Cooking Quality' merchandise :-) Well worth a tenner. -- Ken O'Meara http://www.btinternet.com/~unsteadyken/ |
