Which is why I use Yahoo TV listings to verify what is on. I know it
doesn't auto program my DVR's but the info is rarely wrong and I find
the 'original air date' very useful for catching the occasional missed
episode. Yes, I keep a log of what was missed, so far 2 shows out of
19 events per week.

I use it on the computer, don't have it tied to the tv.

Was using Yahoo, but about two years ago they redid the interface -
and it didn't work right for at least a year! So I switched to zap2it
- but sometimes they annoy users a lot with pop-ups.

Yeah, you're right in that Yahoo totally screwed it up back then but
it seems to be OK now.

I just set the machines to record a specific time every week. If they
rerun somethineg, I check to see if I'm missing that show and discard
it if all's OK. The computer is on anyway and it costs almost nothing
to record.

Given a recent thread about 'giving away a show', I just took in the 3
CSI shows in the trilogy for a co-worker. He and his wife really liked
it without the spots.

I've used the free "The Proxomitron"
(http://www.proxomitron.info/index.html Files tab) since Win98 thru XP
and now W7. I've not seen an unwanted pop-up nor advert in a decade
of visiting web sites.

Every once in a while, I disable The Proxomitron to get some idea of
what others are writing about when they refer to adverts on web sites.
Pathetic, as bad as TV.

True, Prox may require some techie skills to provide features not in
the out-of-the-box program - sadly, the programmer died several years
ago so no enhancements have been made since - but it is extensible
with the use of "regular expressions, the documentation is helpful,
and there is user support in this area (see the Resources tab on the
web site above).

I've used TitanTV (
http://www.titantv.com/), in the past with great
satisfaction - included one click scheduling for my USB tuners. They
made some GUI changes earlier this year and became useless to me, but
they may still be of use to you as I've read few complaints from
others. After the change I switched to Zap2It
(http://www.zap2it.com/) and have stuck with it since, although it
does not interface with my tuners.

I've been using TitanTV for some years now, and wonder what happened to
make it useless to you? It seems quite customizable.

It doesn't work on my Mac to set the DirecTV tuner, but DTV has an
interface that I can use on the Mac or iPhone.

Two major TitanTV problems:

1) for reason(s) unknown to me, their web page frequently loses my zip
code and assigns me to Ventura, CA?

2) it no longer shows the correct TWC digital channels for my zip
code, when it's correct.

Here the HD channels are in the STB 400 range, Titan lists them as 900
range, which they once were under Adelphia but have not been for a few
years.

Annoyance:
When I set the HDTV only option on, it lists the analog channels as
well, with an HD in their listing.

One ongoing problem:
I have two tuners plugged in to this PC. Neither Titan nor the tuner
manufacturer has figured out (or cares to figure out) how to schedule
the second tuner with the "one click" feature.

With Zap2It I at least get the right channel lineup and the 6 hour
spread but, sadly, no "one click" scheduling; I set up the OnAir
tuners' recording schedule manually;-( Also, Zap2It does not seem to
have a default start time, which I'd set on Titan to 6PM. So there is
always that extra, and annoying, mouse use to open the TOD selector
before the schedule becomes useful.

But then, I'm retired and in less of a hurry than some others might
be;-)

It sounds like you may have screwed up cookies, accessing one some time,
and another the next.
One way to find out is to use a browser that you haven't yet used to go
to Titan and set up a new account, or log into the old one and reset it
competely. I deleted all cookies (over 6 IIRC) when I had similar
problem, and it's been fine ever since.

I don't think Macs can use the one click scheduling, though I would be
happy to be shown otherwise.

Thanks John!

I just switched to Windows 7 (from XP) two weeks ago. In replying to
your earlier query, I refreshed my dwindling memory by going to the
TitanTV site for the first time since. I had to sign in and provide
the password, so there were no cookies from them on this PC until that
time. When the schedule opened, it was for Ventura. After I
corrected my zip, the TWC Digital listing showed the correct city but
the incomplete HDTV channel listing placed them all in the 900 range.
Many of the lower analog channels showed an "HD" in their program
boxes.

Pretty much useless. I had enjoyed using Titan for at least 5 years,
maybe more. They once scheduled my Hauppauge analog tuners and
switched to the OnAir digital tuners without missing a beat. No
longer. Cest la vie:-(

One more thing: try setting up a "new" guide by choosing "Channel
Lineup" - " Create new lineup." It may be that you'll be able to choose
a provider setting that matches what you get. OTOH, maybe not- I mess
only with DirecTV and Comcast cable at home, and local cable when I travel..

Good luck and joyeux dindon a vous....
