Indeed (and always remember anybody can write anything in Wikipedia).
It is CND as it is semaphore for N and D overlaid in a circle, as in Nuclear
Disarmament. Obviously there is a connection with peace in that most peace
protesters want rid of Nuclear Weapons, however I believe the premise of the
Iraq war was getting rid of these too, even though they didn't actually
exist.

There is no specific connection with looney lefties albeit that some CND
protesters were also of that persuasion. Now had they been wearing a
Socialist Worker T-shirt then I might have agreed, in this case its probably
just a fashion statement.
