Astratec stb problem
Got well messed up - some 800's. But the main problem was that it got
'stuck' in scanning - admittedly never having been fast, but this time it was taking the better part of an hour to scan, and we only have Emley signle site. (And yes, I did try attenuation, cable out, etc, but it made no difference.) Sounds like my neighbours Sagem with old firmware. Found about 10 out of 100 TV & Radio channels and even the ones it found would not work. TV gave pictures which partly appeared (strips not pixellation!) and radio sounded like there was a cat being strangled somewhere nearby. Paul DS. |

Paul DS Yes and no Paul. The on-screen display is very similar, but the machine is not. Actually I would say the opposite is true, the GUI is different but the hardware is the same (except maybe modulator). Specifically following Sept 30th the MG-TU1 will no longer work (or at least ours won't) but both of our Astratecs (3D) work perfectly. Not atall, or just messed up a bit? -- Tony Got well messed up - some 800's. Or maybe the new broadcasts are confusing it, but I can't imagine it would wait for 1hr then give up on something, so an intermittent bug IMO. -- Tony |

Doh! I had done a full reset, turned it on and off with the remote but had forgotten that that's not the same as fully powering down. A quick unplug from the wall and re-plug has it all sorted. Sorry for wasting everyone's time! Turns out the box *is* playing up. I've had to power it down & up 4 times now due to loss of picture. CPC who I ordered it from couldn't have been more helpful when I phoned them and it's getting collected tomorrow. Tim |
