Not good news with the retune ...

Now, I don't know if this just applies to Crystal Palace, but yesterdays
retune has been a disaster. My STBs all retuned OK, but they are all
Philips DTR210s. Others experiences (received so far) ...

Parents: Philips DTR210 supplied by me - No problems. Panasonic TX28DTX1
initially OK, but now lost all sorts of channels (not 5, ITV3 or ITV4).
Aware of the software download that caused a lot of problems, but it's
still not working properly. Samsung (model unknown) IDTV OK despite the
retune instructions being wrong.

Aunt-in-law: Random lost channels - Need to visit tomorrow and see what's
missing.

Friend 1: Samsung IDTV (model as yet not known) - Lost some music channels,
Dave, and basically everything they like to watch. 5, ITV3 and ITV4
appaerently present. Visit pending.

Friend 2: Scatty lady, difficult to determine her setup, but basically has
retuned numerous times, done a factory reset and still cannot get channel 5
and other random channels.

All Crystal Palace, so not a TX problems if the Philips boxes all work.

I really need to sort out the Panasonic TX28DTX1 problem as my parents have
basically said that it's going down the dump tomorrow and they are going to
waste money buying another TV. The Panasonic webite and support PDF are a
joke.

Crikey, I wish I was billing this fiasco ...

We have a Bush CRT IDTV that has always had a bit of a problem. Scan
for channels and everything is fine. Turn it off and back on and some
quantity of the highest number channels (e.g. the radio ones) have
disappeared from the list.

This seems to be due to some limit in the amount of non-volatile
memory and the answer is, immediately after scanning, to delete
channels you know you'll never want (pay ones that don't work,
interactive and shopping ones, etc.) Delete enough and what's left
will stick.

Perhaps the Panasonic is similar?

Not good news with the retune ...

I did a second retune on the Netgem, this time no crashes or weird long
duration captures, but seem to have one heck of a lot of blank or unknown
channels popped up right at the end of the list. This is Crystal Palace.
May well do a no aerial retune later then try again, as I do not recall
there being so many phantom or encrypted channels before.

Did you ever visit the Samsung? I ask because I've just had huge fun
sorting out a Samsung 28inch WS CRT iDTV out for a neighbour. Reported
various missing channels since 30th Sept. retune. I tried an autoscan
and yep, no BBC mux for starters. Tried again, BBC mux back but a
different one missing. Basically it would only tune in between 1 and
5 random muxes each time I Auto retuned - same after a factory reset.
Dug out a mux list for Rowridge, then did a manual scan at each known
RF channel. Most - but not every - time it would fail to find any
channels; but doing a second manual scan on the same RF channel would
find all channels. So after scanning all 6 RF channels I finally had a
complete channel listing on the TV. Something still a bit screwy as it
takes 3 - 4 seconds to change channel, but at least the owner is happy
now they've got BBC 1, 2 and News back.

Well, do you think the presence of the analogue channels is desensing the
set's tuner?
