In my case, by recording on a Humax PVR9200T, transferring it to a PC and looking at the details with VideoReDo. I recorded a few minutes of "Murder in Greenwich" this afternoon. (From the Divis transmitter.) It was 544x576. Judging by the picture quality on the screen just now two hours later I'd guess that it is still at that resolution. -- Peter Duncanson (in uk.tech.digital-tv) |

Ah, I thought I might be missing something obvious in the info the PVR/STB presents. -- Regards Dave Saville |

Yes, and unconfirmed reports that it is running at 544x576 (which is in breach of their Ofcom licence) Page 3:- http://www.ofcom.org.uk/tv/ifi/tech/...e/dttt_uk2.pdf I have compiled the following table of the channels available to me on a SilverCrest Comag DVB-T SL65 receiver from the Rowridge transmitter signals. Channel order as given by receiver. Aspect ratios code: A = 720 x 576 B = 704 x 576 C = 544 x 576 01 301 BBC red button C 02 BBC Parliament C 03 BBC C Beebies A 04 302 (retuning guide) C 05 Fiver C 06 Five USA C 07 QVC C 08 Bid tv C 09 Virgin 1 C 10 Quest C 11 Teachers C 12 CITV C 13 ITV3 C 14 ESPN Scrambled - 15 ITV1 B 16 Channel 4 B 17 E4 C 18 More 4 C 19 Channel 4 +1 C 20 ITV 2 C 21 FIVE C 22 ITV C 23 4 Music C 24 TMF C 25 Yesterday A 26 Ideal world C 27 Film 4 A 28 Dave ja vu C 29 Rocks & Co C 30 ITV 4 A 31 CBBC Channel A 32 BBC News A 33 BBC 2 A 34 BBC 1 A 35 Price drop Tv C 36 Dave A 37 E4 +1 A 38 Sky Three A 39 Sky sports news A 40 Sky news A Some surprises in there. If the Ofcom spec is still valid then quite a few are out of order. The Comag receiver can show picture aspect ratio and transmitted bit rates. (about its only virtue..) I havn't quoted any bit rates because they vary rather a lot and it takes time to get an average value. Roger R |

No, in fact only one station is breaking Ofcom's rules, and that's C5. The Ofcom 'Qualifying Services' that have to be at a minimum resolution on DTT of 704x576 are only ITV1, C4, and Five. The rest can (and do) use whatever they want. I'm not sure whether the Beeb have to conform, but all four of their main services are at 720x576 anyway -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |
