From elsewhere it seems with the Hummy 9200T you only have to delete
the channels that moved in the channel list. Or just delete the lot.

I too used the reset to default function, which has the effect of
literally resetting every-setting-in-sight. 4:3 instead of 16:9, ad
skip forward time, ALL timer settings..... :-(

And in my email from Humax, informing me of the need to retune, they
referred me to the TVretune website to find out how to do it on their
products! Usual Humax attitude!

Exactly, as I've mentioned elsewhere, it certainly makes one wonder what
goes on in the mindset of the people who design the software for some of
these things? what possible reason can there be for it 'not' being as simple
the setting up procedure on my cheap and cheerful Digifusion PVR?. which
was, Menu button 'Channel Setup' 'Channel Tuning' 'Full Scan Add New
Channels' // 'Full Scan Replace Existing Channels'.. I simply selected the
latter option and the job was done within minutes, with full channel list in
correct order.

Twice today we've had people ringing up saying they are getting 'channel
unavailable' or 'scrambled channel' on BBC1 and BBC2. Also a lot are getting
the retune message on BBC1.

A friend of mine (a local rigger) told me yesterday that he charged £20.00 a
call out inc retuning, and reckons that he made about £200 pounds for a good
days work, however he did say that in most cases he found that there was
more than one STB/TV/PVR per household, with a lot of kit being 'an absolute
nightmare to set up', Philips TVs apparently being among the least of his
favourites!

But how well would it have worked if it picked up channels from multiple
transmitters?

I've been on holiday today, so haven't had any messages from customers
(well, only two), but here's how my own retune has gone so far:
1. Newish Sony IDTV. Just did it with no problem.
2. Humax F2 Fox T: Found only 24 channels, lost everything else, so I
tried again. Same result. Did a factory reset, this worked OK. The odd
thing is, the receiver comes on now when powered up without needing the
standby button to be pressed, which it didn't before.

Humax PVR9200T - not great with a selection of channels out of order and
some with incorrect labels.
I had to factory default it to get everything as it should be and then
re-enter 20+ recordings

My Panasonic TX-26LXD1 LCD panel now steadfastly refuses to 'see' Dave
(19), E4+1 (29) and Sky News (82) plus a couple of others that I can't
recall - I'm missing 6 channels in alll. Other Panasonic and Sony gear
in the house is fine. I've tried a shipping condition reset, different
aerial, scan without an aerial attached to try and clear the problem -
nada. Looks like I'll be calling Panasonic tomorrow. Sigh.

Get yourself a set of aerial lead attenuators and try rescanning with
various amounts in circuit. (With 3, 6 and 12dB you can have any value
from 3 to 21 in increments of 3). This might seem daft but it worked for
me. Two of my tuners managed just fine, but the Panasonic PVR picked up
everything except BBC4 despite several rescans, until I tried the
attenuators. It worked with 6dB, then I took the attenuator out of
circuit and it still picks up all the channels.

Rod.

Yes, I can try that - it can't hurt. I did call Panasonic today and
apparently it's a known issue. They've promised to send me a cam with a
software update on it that supposedly fixes the issue. Fingers crossed
that it doesn't get caught in the postal troubles.

The problem seems to be that it's ignoring all TV channels on Mux C, but
will happily store details of radio and data channels!

Yes - similar problems with my 9200T. Had one particularly interesting
problem after retuning yesterday. I get strongest signals from Midhurst,
but can receive CP as well. Prior to retuning, I could only get Five from
Midhurst. Yesterday, after retuning, I got Five from CP as well for a few
seconds, then the pic and sound changed to ITV2, although the Channel info
told me I was still watching Five!

A default reset cured most of the the problems (although 27 still shows with
no label). I think I will do another default reset and retune when we have
low pressure, as I am fairly certain the recent high pressure has allowed
more distant transmissions to be received. As someone else mentioned
earlier, I wonder what will happen when signal strength increases after DSO.
Pass the attenuator!

Tomorrow I have to retune a lot of stuff, so I'll report back.

Mixed results here using Hannington. Sony PVR worked fine, complete
rescan, just ITV4 has no channel name in the EPG and ITV2+1 is listed
as ITV in the EPG (Same as others have noted).

Samsung (CRT) IDTV a complete pain. Tried yesterday (30 Sep) After a
Full Scan no longer have BBC1 / BBC2, Channel 5 gone too. Manually
adding channels gives mixed results, i.e. select UHF channel 50 and
'scan'..... no services, retry, no services retry again - some
services (9 is this the correct number?!). In the end gave up and went
to bed. Tried again this evening - even worse managed to get the TV to
lockup completely, needed a full power cycle to get it working again.
I have to say this TV has pretty flaky software, the EPG often locks
up for no reason and you have to 'reboot' to get the TV working
again...... not to self don't buy another Samsung!

In the end tried removing the aerial and performed a factory reset,
this wiped all the old EPG data. Then reconnected the aerial and
stepped through the Hannington DTT channels manually scanning for
services. Finally seem to have a full set although ITV2+1 carries the
label 'ITV' in the EPG and ITV4 is no label (blank). Reset all the
favorites now but I won't be doing another scan in a hurry!

Both my Vestel 80GB PVRs have ITV2+1 (33) tagged as "ITV"

I think this is because they're planning to change it to be ITV1+1 soon.
