"Bob Miller" wrote One problem that still confronts anyone buying an HDTV set or monitor today is the possibility that Congress will close "the analog hole" and make any non complying HDTV set only capable of a lower non HD resolution. Or has everyone just in denial on that small problem? It's a problem to connect an HDTV set-top-box to the "non complying" HDTV set? Hollywood wants to force the hardware guys to disable the HD component outputs of the cable boxes and OTA ATSC receivers when the broadcast "do-not-copy" flag is set.... allowing the true 1080 or 720 to be output ONLY on the digitally authenticated DVI output and then if the connected display is digitally authenticated as incapable of output for copy. Essentially turning our component video input HD monitors into SD monitors by remote control from the studios. So far, Congress and the FCC have said NO WAY... but Hollywood's flunkies in Congress will do anything to please their masters. |

If Congress and the FCC were willing to disregard the citizen's interest when they crammed 8-VSB down your throat for a foreign interest like LG Ind. why do you think they wouldn't do the bidding of Hollywood? |

LG is an excellent company. 8VSB is a much better choice for the U.S. and Canada than cofdm, which is power hungry *and* interference plagued... |
I just saw an Akai 55" HDTV with built-in ATSC receiver at Sam's Club.
