aerial rotators and DX on digital

Just wondered if anyone still makes aerial rotators like the old Stolle ones
these days, with their alignment bearings.

I have two old ones, one with busted breaks and one with a dead spot on the
servo pot, and both very old now. I also wondered if freeview and dab would
be amenable to DX reception. It would be nice to hear what other countries
are up to via tropo at the right time of year and weather conditions as I
used to in analogue days. I suspect though that the mutilation of the
signals and the various slight differences in transmission specs will screw
me here.

DVB-t is certainly amenable to DX reception and many people in the South East
are able to receive the VRT multiplex from Egem on channel 22 during good
conditions. However, polarization is now vertical since the move from
channel 40 last November, 2008.

Similarly reception of the recently started DVB-t services from France is
also possible under appropriate conditions if you are further away from
the coast than where daily reception is possible.

Good old Google, you would be lost without it.

Well, when I used Google the only sites that came up for rotators were
totally inaccessible to us blind folk, being based on picture with stupid
incomprehensible names rather than descriptions of said rotators. I had
hoped someone here might have had a better link. I'm not sure if the one I
saw here was one of the annoying ones, but will have a look Certainly Blakes
came up and that site seems to be a mess.

Hi, well there are some interesting ones. I'll have to get a sighted person
onto it though as a rotator which has just moving lights or digital display
is of little use to me. My previous ones had a knob with a notch, so i could
mark up the dial in a tactile manner and simply aim the know at the desired
direction and wait for the click!

This link is to the sort of rotator that is suitable for a TV aerial. There
is a description.

That was exactly why I suggested the specific rotator in the link.
