How so, there are other companies with cheap packages and thru
experience I know that SKY are very slow with getting any of their LLU
equipment serviced or maintained (3 months to get some D plugs moved
on the back of one of their suites, I seem to recall with nearly 100
users without service for most of the time), They also try to get
their end users to report line faults to Openreach, thus getting the
end users charged and the problem not being fixed.

Sorry but just telling what my experience has been with SKY, the only
ISP who gave me a 95% refund when I left early instead of trying to
raise a penalty fee. The only other national company who had come
close has now withered and died

Sky TV is delivered from satellites via microwaves to a small dish, known as
a minidish; it does not use ADSL/DSL. The connection to the phone line is
via a built in audio modem for the purposes of initial installation and
charging for pay-per view programmes (Sky boxes generally 'phone home' once
per day). Sky do not provide a cable service, you need to talk to Virgin
about that, but cable TV is only available in very limited areas in Britain.

Thanks for your replies. *I spoke (on-line) to an agent. *I asked
specifically if delivery is by dish or telephone. *He answered by telephone
and, when asked again, confirmed his answer. *I was a little suspicious when
during the 'conversation' he asked me twice about signing up. *I had the
impression he just wanted a bit more commission and was willing to tell a
potential customer anything they wanted to hear to get the sale. *Good job I
asked here!


Who were you calling? It sounds as though you may have been on the
line to Tiscali, who offer a "Tiscali TV" service via a broadband
connection - this is what used to be called HomeChoice until Tiscali
took over.

Sky sucks . Believe me any of their paid services are NOT worth what you
pay for it. And once a subscriber their customer services dont want to know
you. My motto is look for alternatives to Sky. Only Brits are stupid enough
to watch everything by paying over the odds. Every nation watch their
national teams on any event free , and every nation use their own national
telephone system . Except Brits . They like to pay extra for all that

I've sampled both cable and sky and though it is pricey Sky still
knocks the crap out of cable. I'd like to say it doesn't but it does.

And you end up paying for the subscription, the channel packages - and then
still have to watch commercials.
Sky might make sense if it were advertisement-free but until then, I'm
sticking with Freeview.
