So I didn't miss much then. So why did my PVR do that? For most of the
series it misses the first few seconds but last night it started with the
BBC 2 logo and it being introduced.

They faded to black and rolled credits. I hit a similar problem with
the final episode but I use a PC to record 99% of my TV viewing and
manually pad out the start and end times. In this case I lost the last
25 seconds of the credits due to over run and the episode being 1 hour 2
minutes and 48 seconds, much longer than the more usual 55 +/- 2 minutes
duration in the 1 hour slot.

I fixed the truncated credits by copy and paste from the previous
episode (I'd gotten enough of the credits to include the continuity
voiceover proper to the final episode and miss off the voiceover from
the previous episode. Apart from the edit hiccup, I think I've
accurately restored the credits since the edit was well after the cast
listing at the point where the costume designer was named.

BTW, I've recorded only 10 episodes and I'm not sure whether I've
missed any (a season's worth is usually 12 or 13 episodes). I haven't
had a chance to google for the episode list and check this. Am I
missing any?

If it was the same situation, it cut off the last few
minutes on the final episode. Luckily I was watching
live and noticed the recording had stopped.

Interesting. I recorded those episodes from Freesat using a Humax
Foxsat-HDR. The recordings were complete, the ends were not chopped off.

I also have a Humax 9200T and sometimes recordings on that are cut
short. I've often wondered, but not investigated, whether a recording is
cut short by a new one starting, bearing in mind that on an ITV
programme the start signal comes at the beginning of the adverts
preceding the programme, so that a programme with a nominal start time
of say 9pm has an actual recording start time a few minutes earlier.

Thanks for the link. It looks like I'm missing episodes 1, 3 and 4.
Well, at least I was able to put names to the anonomous eight episodes
(I always include the broadcast date in the episode name so I've at
least got something to work from when I eventually decide to google for
episode numbers and titles).

TBH, I wasn't sure I wanted to record the series in the first place, so
I was a little lax about checking the schedule (and surprised that the
Beeb decided to rush out a 13 week series in a little less than 3
weeks). I guess I'll catch the missing episodes when the Beeb decides to
repeat it (probably on BBC4 or BBC3 or whatever).

Erm .... John [and others] - you have probably missed it.
This seven year-old, ground-breaking show is unlikely to be repeatd
anytime soon.
