Nothing new from BBC or ITV on Good Friday

So today is Good Friday and all that we get from the BBC and ITV is another
repeat of Wallace and Gromit which was on at Christmas.

Is this the best they can do? Why don't they sack a few overpaid celebrities
and make some new programmes for once.

Maybe they just ran out of ideas. You can buy a celeb, but not a new idea.

Be fair, there was a 1956 Western on BBC2.

I am sure BBC News Channel did not show repeats from Christmas.

The BBC is a business. The UK is not now a Christian Country and far too
many people in minority groups will complain about it and get away with
that.
If you don't like the BBC watch something else, no one forces you and you
alone can make that choice. It's just unfortunate we are all forced to pay
the
BBC under the cover of a TV licence. I would prefer to do away with the
TV licence. It's not only celebrities that are overpaid, there is so much
wasteage
in the BBC and expense fiddles.

I would have to argue with that. Britain is still a majority Christian
country. If you look you will find that other religions only account for
about 11% of the population. Note I did not say practicing Christian.

Mind you, due to it's 'everybody is equal' and over applied ethnic
equality policies there is nothing to say that the BBC is majority
Christian.

[Sits back and waits to be seriously flamed.]

I think the matter of religious belief is not really relevant to this. What
matters is the fact that we have a culture with values rooted in
Christianity and refined by the humanist and liberal values of the last
century. We do not pass laws that turn women into second class citizens; we
do not stone adulteresses; we do not execute homosexuals.

The BBC has an institutional left wing liberal bias that can't be removed
other than by sacking virtually every creative employee. Since that isn't
going to happen we have to live with it. But remember that the BBC is
anti-Christianity and anti-capitalist, and it is obsessed with political
correctness. It also has utter contempt for the values and preferences of
the over 50s. So the second most important event in the Christian calendar
passes almost unheralded on all the BBC channels, and Songs of Praise is
regularly given over to music that has nothing to do with Christianity.
Radio 3 devotes masive amounts of time to World Music because it is 'right
on' -- the worl of classical western composers being regarded as part of the
middle classes' cultural conspiracy. On R4 the other week a programme editor
said that the BBC didn't use right of centre comedians 'because there aren't
any, and if there were what they say would be illegal'.

I used to be the BBC's biggest fan, but as far as I'm concerned it is now
just the broadcasting arm of the Guardian.

Bill

Thanks Bill, you said what I thought.

As for the Grauniad, the newsreader on Radio 4 at 07:00 yesterday
referred to the 'Asian' summit - as in Az-y-ann. Slip of the
tongue.........?
