The following appeared on the "Feedback: your letters" page of "E & T", the
house journal of The IET (better known as the IEE) and I thought the content
might provide for interesting discussion in this group.

Will riggers in Whitehaven have dispensation?
Or those here in Manchester later this year?
And DAB aerials will be Band III aerials now I suppose. The public
won't be confused by that will they?

Who caused all the confusion in the first place? It wasn't the customer!

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "bhk" saying
something like:

might provide for interesting discussion in this group.

As for the **** with the biodiesel in his tank- five minute's work with
google would have informed him of the very high probability of needing
to change his fuel filter a couple of times within the first few hundred
miles of BD use.
It's well known that BD loosens up the crap in a fuel tank and clogs
filters, but it goes away.

Mr Steve Beeching IEng MIET doesn't quite seem to know what he's talking
about:

"There is no argument that it (an aerial for receiving DTT) will
satisfactorily receive analogue transmissions for which a Balun or an MRD
are not essential requirements"

This is ********. An aerial that receives DTT satisfactorily will receive
analogue satisfactorily as well, all other things on the transmission side
being equal. It is not possible to make an aerial good for DTT and bad for
analogue. A balun will always be beneficial, even if not essential, but
the same applies to both modulation schemes, so it is a null argument.

"Let us not forget that FM aerials are now called 'DAB aerials'"

No they aren't. What the hell is this guy on?

If you read the letter carefully you'll see the text in quotes is from
Trading Standards which is quite worrying.
