Samsung 52- calibration?

Clearly I'm a rookie at this since some of this is flying over my
head. The source I'll be using with the new set is DirectTV. As for
DVD, that's another topic. I don't have BR, yet. What I was hoping to
find is a DVD recorder with BR playing capabilities. I'm trying to put
VHS behind me. I only have a few VHS in my library and all can and
will be replaced with DVD. However, I occaisionaly tape something from
TV for friends or family- I want to start "taping" with DVDs. I've
been told by the people at a couple retail stores that a DVD recorder
with BR playing capability is not available.

I sure haven't seen any. It would likely be expensive to add the violet
laser and associated Blu-ray circuitry to a DVD recorder. Stay with separates.

As for calibration, all "do-it-yourself" aids are on DVD or BD, AFAIK. If you
have no DVD or BD player but still want to calibrate your LCD, check AVS for
the closest settings or spend the bucks to have a professional do it.
