I have just been told that Sky have now worked out a way for their customers
to watch ITV HD, and will be sending out information. (ITV has always been receivable, but it is flagged with an incorrect video PID that stopped boxes tuning to it properly. PC's with sat tuners have been able to watch / record ITV HD since it started - software permitting) |

You need to have the new EPG though in order to manually add the channel. Only approx 38k digiboxes have had the new EPG update, the rest will be rolled out in the coming weeks / months. |

I have watched ITV HD on Freesat, it's hard to see the difference
between that and normal programs. The programmers that are in HD are very few and far between, only 2 or three this week. Werner Heisenberg I used to be uncertain on principle but now I am just undecided. |

I have Freesat and can already get it, they do if you are lucky 2 programmes per week! We have to press a Blue button on the rare programme we watch is in HD, we do not bother actually. -- Regards, David FREESAT HD as it is now it is a joke. |

Soner or later someone in the company will ask "How much are we paying for a channel we hardly use? How much extra advertising revenue does it bring in? Is it cost-effective? Perhaps they should transmit cunningly upscaled SD material on their HD channel. |

I don't have to press any 'red button' to watch ITV HD on my satellite receiver, and can record it like any other service from that receiver. Not that I've bothered to. What type of satellite receiver are you using? I have a Freesat box: Humax Foxsat HDR. In Freesat mode this has only one HD channel in the EPG table and channel list - BBC HD. ITV HD is not listed as a selectable channel. To watch ITV HD I have to select ITV1 London rather than than UTV, the normal channel for my postcode. When a programme in HD starts I need to press the red button to switch from SD to HD. To record a programme from ITV HD I need, again, to select ITV1 London in the EPG, move the highlighting to the programme I want to record and press OK. I am then given the choice to record in SD or HD. The only indication that an ITV programme is available in HD is at the top of the EPG screen when an HD programme is highlighted. If I switch the box to non-Freesat mode additional HD channels are listed, some scrambled. ITV HD is not in the list. In another thread someone gave some technical information about why the channel carrying ITV HD is not listable as a normal channel. |
