Rowridge DTT muxes to move in March

It seems that Rowridge will be shuffling all of its DTT muxes around on
March 25th this year. In order to facilitate this, C5 analogue from
Fawley will close down.

See:-

http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/24677/01-28-09_South_coast_analogue_Five_switch-off.pdf

What it doesn't tell you is what the new mux allocations will be !!!

Anybody know what they will be ?

Notes to editors suggests that CH34 will be used. You would hope that
everything is remaining in group A!
I can't believe only 1 in 3 homes has a second analogue set. Surely the
reality is much higher than that?

I don't understand.

Rowridge isn't giving me analogue Five ATM, so how can they be turning it
off?

As to the rest, buggers up going on holiday in the last week in March,
doesn't it (and yes I did want to do that!)

The key was where he said "Fawley" - the C5 is transmitted from the
chimney of Fawley power station. See here

Seems a bit sudden to give less than two months notice that C5
analogue is going off the air. Of course all analogue is going off air
but not until 2012 in this area.

All related to the digital switch over in France it would appear.

Our lad is in student halls in Southampton. When I set his Freeview
box up last year, I discovered that Mux 2 is not being passed by the RF
distribution system, probably because that had moved from Ch 52 to Ch
28 in March 2004. Potentially he could lose some more, if not all of
his muxes with this latest change. Ch 34 Fawley is not passed by the
RF system either. Oh joy !

This change will cause havoc at such short notice for some filtered
communal systems, such as our lad's one. The suspicion is from posts in
other groups is the change is required because when DSO occurs at
Stockland Hill later this year, there will be a clash of allocations
between Row and SH.

so a (almost) 90 degree difference in direction, what flipping use is that?

90 deg difference from where ?
It won't be 90 degs for everyone will it !?

I used to live where Rowridge and Fawley were only a couple of degs apart.

From most parts of Southampton it's close enough not to matter.

There were some communal systems around Shirley with two receive antennas,
both group A but pointing in slightly different directions. They may well
have been replaced since the advent DTTV, especially when CH52 was in use
initially and group A aerials were being replaced.

Reliable and ghost free reception of Fawley in Gosport must require a
separate aerial though?

I don't follow the situation in detail, but have this series of
changes basically been pre-empted by the French digital switch over,
or is that a misreading of the situation?
