A grey scale on a test card is a grey scale irrespective of it being displayed on a CRT, LCD or plasma. etc. If various levels of grey nearest the black level cannot be seen on a LCD it is a limitation of the display technology and not a deficiency in a test transmission. "DO NOT leave the test card on screen for more than 2 minutes if your screen is less than three months old or more than 5 minutes on older screens. I suspect arse covering so they cannot be accused of not warning about burning in a 'white' image on a new plasma. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

And so they put a great big pile of DOG **** on it instead during all of the actual programmes. Obviously they don't want anyone watching them for more than 3 minuets if the set is less than 3 months old and no longer than 5 minutes it the set is older. |

All I can say then is if a test card could cause damage that fast then the display technology is crap. What is needed here is the return of the interlude. Brian Can I register the first vote for 'The Potter's Wheel', please? Terry |

The problem with BBC HD is that the on screen graphic is not bright enough. Even when they have this useful item on the screen often it's so subtle it takes time to spot it to find out which channel is being displayed. ITV2 has the right idea. Why don't more channels copy Virgin and put the EPG on the screen as the logo thus fulfilling two useful functions in one go? -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |
