will we see Blu-ray player costs fall in the coming months. In fact all
appliance costs.

I am interested in branching into Blu-ray technology but not that desperate
and am prepared to wait if prices may fall.........

Depends how long you're prepared to wait. I imagine there will be some
reasonable bargains in the January sales,
However, if you wait a year or so, you'll probably be able to pick up a
BlueRay player in your local supermarket for about 45 quid...

I paid £220 for my first DVD player (a Thomson) and Blu-Ray players
can already be had for about £150 or less. It won't be long before
they come down further.

There will be the natural price decreases..
But there's a large key factor in "elctronics" cost in the UK/(Europe)..
Most imported electronics are done so off of the items based in their "USD"
form. When the exchange was 1$=50p then we were really paying over the
odds, now that 1$=67p then electronics companys are now getting 26% less
than they were doing a year ago!.. (perhaps if I say 1£ was $2 and now 1£ is
$1.48 then it makes more sence)..

So look for companys to cover this gap again over the next few months,
possibly after the xmas rush.
I wanta BD player but I will probably wait till they drop to around 65-75£
(and get hack'd).. As I buy a lot of american DVD's then it stinks that BD
players are region coded (I only found out the other day) so we cant play
american releases on our european sets (booooo).

Blu ray players are coming down anyway.

Now you need to pay about £200 for a decent branded player.
By next christmas I'd expect this to have halved now that there's no
competition

You should buy now. In fact, you should offer the shop more money. We
should all do our bit to help the economy.

But is the economy better helped by buying PR of China manufactured goods,
or something produced in the UKofGB&NI or other EU states?

Yep. I'll wait until region-free Blu-Ray is available. No point buying a
player only to find that I can't play US or Japanese disks. A lot of the
stuff I like is niche market stuff and never sells well enough to be
issued in a second region.

Either that or wait until the drives are cheap enough I can buy two, then
buy one that will play US discs but work on a UK power supply.

Simon.
