Samsung LCD TV and wanting to use Headphones.

Hello all,
I wanted to buy a 32" LCD TV, I have several Samsung products
that I have been very satisfied with.
When I went round the stores to find which I thought would suit me best, I
asked if each TV had headphone sockets,
and was told that only Samsung TV's has them now.

I ended up buying a HD ready set, as I am not likely to have a HD source, I
am happy with freeview, when I had set the TV up I
found I could not find a socket for the headphones.
I live in a flat and want to watch a film later at night when my Neighbours
have gone to bed.

The TV model is no: LE32A336JID
Type: LE32A336

It has all the sockets on the back for home cinema etc, and I was wondering
if I could somehow use these to use a headphone.

Thanks for any help,
Mick Cant.

Google for wireless headphones. These transmit the signal from the TV
to the headphones, as the name suggests, without wires. Not sure
exactly what the transmitter connects to on the back of the TV, but
some say via a USB port..

Forgive me for the RCA/Phono stuff.. Stereo-RCA is often called Phono, and
3.5mmRCA is often called "headphone jacks"

The Stereo-RCA(Phono) outputs on the back would provide the sound, but as
they are not amplified then you wont get much joy...
If you have a old radio/stero that accepts Stereo-RCA inputs then I would
Connect the Stereo-RCA out on the TV to the Stereo-RCA input on the stereo,
then connect headphones.. PC Speakers also quite often have Headphone
jacks.. If you wanted to use a amplified PC speaker then you will need to
buy a Stereo-RCA to 3.5mmRCA

So.. Using a old Stero http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=31700
4.99£

Using PC speakers or another small amp of sorts (that will take input from a
headphone type of jack) will require
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...C=SO&U=strat15
1.79£

You could use both bits and connect to the headphones directly (if they are
using a 3.5mm stereo plug) but you will have no volume control.
Also, if your SamSung is like mine (if the Phono output is like the DAO)
then you will need to use the internal mute feature to disable to TV
speakers when you want them off....

You can also make that adapter yourself (solidering iron may be required)
for less than a fiver..

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98003 1.49£
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1210 1.19£
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1000 0.99£*2

I only used maplin for an example, and I know you can get the phono to 3.5mm
stero leads for a lot less than a fiver. The couplers are a bit harder to
find, but I rekon you could get it cheaper.

Sorry, for the Stereo you could use the above item if it uses a 3.5mm input,
or RCA(phono)-RCA(phono) if the Stereo accepts that ;P..

No headphone socket on that TV as far as I can see.
Its easy, though:

Use cordless headphones, Use a Scart to phono adaptor (ie a block
which fits into the scart socket, with phono sockets on the back of
it. It will also have a slider switch to select in or out. Many
cordless headphones have both phono and jack connectors,so use the
phonos, if not you will need a jack socket to two phono plugs adaptor
lead as well.

Connect the headphones to the red and white output sockets and set the
switch to output the scart sound signal.

I always use this method for customers with poor hearing as the sound
level output from the scart is not affected by the volume control. In
this way the tv sound can be varied as usual and the volume control on
the cordless phones can be adjusted seperately.

Scart 2 on most TVs can be set, on the menus, to output the sound for
whatever is on the screen (even what is going into scart 1)

However the 436, 456, 556 & 656 models all do have a headphone jack. Looks
like they sold you the one 32" model which doesn't.
