Freeview in my room
Hello,
I have just purchased a Samsung 19" LCD with built in Freeview for my room. Unfortunately, the aerial I have does not allow a reception from my room. In the lounge, I have a socket linked to an external roof aeriel shared by the block of flats. This was recently upgraded to digital. When I connect the AV cable directly from this to my tv, I am able to get a good reception for channel 1-5 (though am having problems with the Digital menu which is a separate issue). The problem is, the cable isn't connected to the bedroom. I have NTL/Virgin in the lounge, which is connected by SCART to my lounge tv, video and home cinema. The wall AV cable does not get used at all. What are my options for getting a signal in the bedroom? Would I have to pay to get someone to extend the AV cable from the lounge to the bedroom? |

I recall a while back getting a letter from the factor saying that they would install a new aerial that would be compatible with freeview. |

If you mean the aerial cable (as opposed to an AV cable) why not buy a length of cable and two plugs and DIY? Bill |

The aerial on my house is 20 years old, which is well before anyone thought of digital TV, and I have no problems with Freeview. But that's history for you......and your landlord. My only suggestion is that you talk with the landlord about maybe contracting someone to run an external cable from the aerial down to your room, assuming it has an external wall. If it does not then you are stumped. |

The aerial on my house is 20 years old, which is well before anyone thought of digital TV, and I have no problems with Freeview. But that's history for you......and your landlord. It may be that the OP lives somewhere that a wideband aerial is required for reception of all services. There are still quite a few places where this is necessary, and although it obviously isn't a digital aerial the two terms have sadly become synonymous. |
