No they're still going but have decided, I'd imagine for cost reasons, to
come off satellite. Still broadcasting loud and proud via the internet.. http://www.bigl.co.uk/ -- aa Commander Gideon wrote: I have only just noticed that they have left the Sky epg, have they closed? |

Yes a bit mean spirited really - If people really do not like the quality or
content then no one is forcing them to listen just ignore them and move on to something more to your likeing. "Commander Gideon" wrote in message ... wrote in message ... Its not BROADcasting is it. Its the listener opening a TCP connection to a server and downloading a stream so how exactly pray is that BROADcasting?? Its no different to downloading any other data except it doesn't have a fixed size. B2003 |

Its no different to downloading any other data except it doesn't have a fixed size. Broadcasting is a one-to-many form of communication where many receivers all receiver the same information from a single source. Internet radio is therefore a form of broadcasting. Downloading an MP3 file consists of one user downloading a file from one source at a time unique to that user. Downloading is not broadcasting. The only reason you don't want to classify Internet radio as being a form of broadcasting is because the streams are currently still using unicast. Once they switch to using multicast (which consists of a single stream being received by multiple receivers, not one stream per user), would you still object to that being called broadcasting? If so, why? -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info The adoption of DAB was the most incompetent technical decision ever made in the history of UK broadcasting: http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/da...ion_of_dab.htm |
