Pinkish whites
I'm actually recording from a VHS recorder to a digital DVD/HDD
recorder. Only when I play a VHS tape, the whites on my TV are a bit pinkish. Can this be due to inexpensive scart cables? I suppose it's a possibility eh? |

Just to clarify, I'm watching the TV as I record from the VHS recorder to the HDD. And I see the pink when I then play the HDD recorder. This extra information makes no difference - I guess. I never seemed to notice the pinkish-white before. I'll track it down eventually. |

Russ Andrews wants £187 for a fully wired 1 metre SCART cable so the £30 for his cable elevators is exceptionally good value for money. Anyone care to guess what is packaged up in: http://www.russandrews.com/lookup/1/.../customer_id/P AA2859082308473SHGMUOEVUSMUOVIB/product-The-Zapperator-3380.htm -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

It sounds as though the output of the VCR is mismatched in some way to
the input expected by the DVD-R, perhaps because you have connected S-Video out from the VCR to an RGB input on the DVD-R. S-Video Chrominance and RGB Red share the same SCART pins: http://tinyurl.com/6d953a .... standing in for ... http://www.cemh.eclipse.co.uk/JavaJi...ART/SCART.html You may be able to correct this by either using a different socket, or configuring the one you're using in the setup menus, to match the output from the VCR. Take a close look at the DVD-R's manual regarding the wiring of its sockets and their configuration in menus. If you change the configuration away from RGB In, it'd probably be best to restore the setting once the job is done.
