Cheers Steve Ps I have been told its 28.2 not sure if thats correct. only the humax one - it has the option to switch between freesat and the ability to tune into any free channels. normally a freesat box will only let you view the channels that have paid to be on their guide - not the other free ones. and of course no freesat box at all can let you watch the pay channels ( just in case that was what you were hoping). -- Gareth. that fly...... is your magic wand.... |

But its a silly situation as sky freesat gives you loads of channels now while normal freesat is slowly adding them a couple at a time . Mud is being thrown at sky for slowing things down - but skys argument is that it needs to be done this way so theres no technical glitches that could cause disruption . -- www.skyepg.co.uk (sky freesat channel listing) |

So, in effect in the end, both Sky Freesat and Freesat will probably have
the same channels, but the people who went with the sky package will have a box which they can use for subscription and the rest wont. So what is the position on high def boxes. Not having any Sky folk around, will the situation be much the same as far as free to air is concerned. Just wondering, if all this actually works, why the heck are we wasting our time with terrestrial transmitters? Also how does one put on the audio description on the freesat no slot type boxes? Not seen that discussed, only that its possible. Are they standard or is it a software dependent system. Also, is the channel seperatable via headphone output, something that Panasonic have been doing on their TVs which has gone down well with families with only one blind person in it! On the Bush HD Freesat box, it's a single dedicated button on the remote control. I suspect the Bush (and clones) SD box is the same ? Also, is the channel seperatable via headphone output, No. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. |

As far as I'm aware all Freesat box can be upgraded over the air. Unlike Freeview, when there is an update it is broadcast continuously so you cannot miss it. -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |

wrote I have to buy a batch of these tomorrow, and I don't know which make to get. I've only had experience of the Humax HD one, except for one Grundig SD which died. Bill There are only two brands for Freesat boxes - Humax and Alba and I don't believe Humax do a SD box. There are other free to air boxes that are not Freesat branded. I believe all the Alba SD boxes are electronically/software identical with the only difference being the badge and perhaps the price. Similarly the Alba HD boxes are just re-badged identical units. Alba = Bush, Grundig and Goodmans For SD boxes go for the cheapest. For HD boxes either go for the Humax or the cheapest Alba product. Bush, Goodmans and Grundig have the .pdf manuals on their (uk) web sites. All 3 SD manuals (links below) have the same date stamp printed in the documents and the time stamps differ by 15 minutes! http://www.bushdigital.co.uk/downloa...IB_Rev1-140308 http://www.goodmans.co.uk/content/ug/GFSAT100SD.pdf?language=en-GB http://www.grundig.co.uk/content/ug/GUFSAT01SD.pdf?language=en-GB The Humax HD manual can be downloaded from http://www.humaxdigital.com/freesat/support.asp -- Alan news2006 {at} amac {dot} f2s {dot} com |
